This weekend, I finally got fed up with my laptop and how slow it was – so I decided to blow everything away and start anew (aka do a clean install). My husband is a Linux/Unix person and told me a few years ago that if I insist on keeping a Windows machine, I had to maintain it – so to Google I went! Of course, if I ran into issues, he’d still help me.
Turns out – Microsoft makes it super easy. I found out via a How to Geek article “How to do a Clean Install of Windows 10 the Easy Way” and it really was easy! My biggest concern was trying to find my product key for my Office products – the whole reason I prefer having Windows over Mac. Turns out – that was super easy too! Since my work had a Home Use Program, I could put in my work email on Microsoft’s website, and they emailed it to me again. Of course, I ended up finding the key on my Drobo later anyway..
Gotta say – I love my new machine – runs so much better (even after the driver updates slowed it down). I also feel accomplished doing it by myself without bothering the hubs too much.
I now feel like I’m one step closer to being a geek. Granted I’m a nerd already, but hadn’t reached geek status. Betcha want to know the difference now, huh?
