Virtual Book Lovers Clubs

Yesterday, I wrote about social media and how it was nice to have a parenting community. Today, it’s all about books! I love reading – I can easily spend days and days reading and not get sick of it. When I was a kid (well..honestly, now too), I would get so lost in a book that I wouldn’t hear people calling for me.

While I read a lot of authors, there’s only a few that I absolutely love and re-read over and over again. What I discovered while on maternity leave last year was that there are Facebook fan clubs for some authors! I feel so behind..but I was never one of those people who really was into social media. I only kept Facebook, honestly, because that was how I kept in touch with extended family.

I have to say, it was really exciting to join some of these groups (ok, ok, I know I’m completely nerding out, but I don’t care!). It was something to look forward to when my depression was at its worst – meeting and reading what other people posted about your favorite books was amazing. My absolute favorite is Mariana Zapata’s The Slow Burners. She’s one of my all time favorite authors (but I’ll rave about why another time), and I love fangirling it with other fans. The admin in the group also hosts a monthly book club, which is cool. I don’t generally join unless it’s an MZ book, but I like having the option.

My other favorite one is Layla Frost’s Cupcakes. I also love all her books. But this is one where the author is active in too, and she responds to fans’ comments and questions! The first time that happened to one of my posts, I was shocked and excited.

There are a few others I’m in too, but those are my top two! Gonna go on and see what’s been happening now that I’ve spent all this time thinking about them…
