So, don’t hate me, but I can’t get the craze around Fifty Shades of Gray. I’m a bookworm, so I like to try to read the book before watching the movie (if I know ahead of time that a movie’s based on a book). Of course, I immediately got Fifty Shades to read it before the movie came out. I could not get past the first ten pages..
Here’s what I always wonder – how did that book get selected to be a movie? Did the author have connections? It’s not original or the first of its kind – erotica is entire romance subgenre (which I do enjoy), and so is BDSM (which isn’t my thing but elements of it do show up sometimes in the books I read). I feel like I’ve read others in that genre that have a better hook in the beginning or better written. Don’t get me wrong – I feel horrible for saying bad things about authors – it’s not like I’m an awesome author or have been published. It just wasn’t my cup of tea.
In the end, I didn’t bother watching the movie either – if I didn’t enjoy the book, why would I bother? Maybe one day, if I get bored..who knows!
