“Sex is like a bowl of rice” (aka the Sex Talk)

Do you remember when your parents (or someone else) gave you the sex talk? I don’t really recall mine, but boy, do I remember my sister’s! My dad decides to lead in with “Sex is like a bowl of rice – you can have it now, but you can also have it later and it will still be just as good.” The intent was to tell my sister to practice abstinance and not to hurry into having sex.

So, there’s a ton of thoughts that go through my head when I heard this. First, of course, only an Asian would use rice in an analogy. Second, rice isn’t as good the next day! Anybody who has ever eaten rice knows that it dries out in the fridge and it’s always better fresh. Third, as my cousin pointed out, we’re Asian and eat rice pretty much for every meal, every day. Does that mean we’re supposed to have sex multiple times a day, every day?? Pretty sure that’s not what my dad meant.

Obviously, my sister had a hard time not laughing. Even my mom gave my dad a look of “WHAT are you saying?!”

I do have to say, it was pretty original. I wonder what other horror/humor stories people have with their sex talks!
