For anybody following me, sorry I’ve suddenly disappeared. I’m pregnant! And it’s kicking my butt – so much so that I’ve basically been sleeping any spare moment I’ve had (versus writing in the blog). I was exhausted with my first too, so it wasn’t so surprising, but there were new surprises this time.
Like…food aversions. Which is different than nausea (aka morning sickness – which I hate calling that because it’s not just in the morning!). I had a few food aversions my first pregnancy (the though of coffee always made me gag) during my first trimester, but it was BAD this time around. I had a week or two of basically having smoothies, fruit, toast, and cereal because it was the only foods that didn’t make me feel immediately nauseous. Let me tell you – it is extremely hard to eat enough calories with those foods to nurse a baby and to grow another one. Luckily, now, my main aversion is to anything tomato based (just writing that made me slightly nauseous…). So..no pasta with tomato sauce, no pizza, no salsa, etc.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, I got my first vaccine shot in mid-March. Now, not sure if it’s related, but I got all these hives up and down my arm now, and it is damn itchy. Add in, I somehow got poison oak from the one time we attempted to take Goober for a small hike to expose him to nature. Instead, mama got exposed to poison oak. But my doctor made me go into urgent care because they were afraid it could be shingles (from the picture I sent them). I’m excited to be pregnant, but wow, March was MISERABLE! I got a few more weeks in first trimester to survive – wish me luck!
