So I’ve decided my kid is a prolific pee-er. We’re finally at the point where he’s starting to sleep through the night…EXCEPT when he pees himself. The crazy part? We already have him in a nighttime diaper that’s a size up, add in one of my overnight period pads (Sposie pads DID NOT work for us), and made sure not to give him liquids an hour before bed. And he still wakes up at 3:30 or early morning completely wet. My poor baby.
I decided to bombard my mom groups and doctor with the situation to get ideas. The doctor’s response? Paraphrasing but, “well, you’ve already done what I would’ve recommended.” Thanks, doc. To be fair, there’s only so much that he can suggest, but I was hoping he’d give me a panacea!
The mom groups on the other hand – so much more helpful. So many ideas – from using incontinence pads as an additional liner (in theory, that makes sense that it may hold more liquid) to double diapering to putting on a resuable training diaper on him as an extra layer (kind of like the double diapering idea but reusable). One mom pointed out her son had the same issue and was a tummy sleeper, but it was fixed once she used pull ups since it was closer to the body. I did notice that once his diaper starts filling up, there’s a gap at the top, plus gravity from belly sleeping probably did it.
So this weekend is lots of trial and error (and probably laundry). Spoke to my hubs (cuz every solution meant money). We’re going to try the pull ups first (possibly without any extra liner, then with my period pad). Then the incontinence pad option. Then the double diapering (disposable or otherwise). Wish this tired mama luck! My water bill could use a break.
