My husband and I finally got tired of going “hey, have you seen my keys?!” before running out the door. We’ve discussed key racks before but never made it a priority. After all, when you had to redo carpets, then tile, then appliances, then fireplaces..etc. etc. – you get the idea – trying to choose the perfect key rack wasn’t up there on the list as important. So to Amazon I went to browse.
There sure were more options out there than I thought. Wood? Plastic? Metal? Colors? Did we want to also hold mail? So many sizes too. Turns out, there are these magnetic keyracks. They looked pretty cool, and fit our idea of modern (or is it contemporary – I always mix it up) style that we wanted for our house. The problem? Seemed like a lot of the reviews complained that they weren’t strong enough to hold up a set of heavier keys. And my hubs and I have some hefty key chains. So I kept scrolling indecisively..trying to decide if I wanted to chance it (since they weren’t really expensive). At the same time, if they didn’t work, I didn’t want to patch up the wall where the screw was (as easy as it is, it still meant extra work!). And then..I saw it!
A magnetic holder for knives! It basically looked like a rectangular strip of metal, so minimalist and modern looking. And it would be strong enough to hold our keys. Done! My husband put it up..and we love it! It’s been up a few months now and works great. Though, I am considering getting a key charm or something that’s strongly magnetic for our keys to make it even better.
